The Tritones perform at 7:30 pm on Friday October 16, 2015 at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
The Tritones were formed in 2009 by Franc van Oort, Dave Colter and Ross Taylor, three veteran musicians with a shared love of classic and modern jazz. Their repertoire covers the works of Duke Ellington, Bill Frisell, Steely Dan and others, as well as many originals by band member Franc van Oort, himself a gifted composer. A mainstay of the Canadian music scene for nearly 40 years, Dave Colter has played with many Grammy and Juno Award winning artists, as well as being a Juno nominee himself. Franc van Oort has been performing and recording with groups such as Powersnooze, The Usual Suspects and Tell Mama since moving to the Perth area from his native Holland in 1987. Ross Taylor, originally from Montreal, has played with many of the area’s talented musicians including Brea Lawrenson and has enjoyed teaching and performing in a variety of styles.
Since the band’s inception, The Tritones have been very active in Perth and surrounding areas, playing concerts, nightclubs, weddings and special events. They were praised by Ellen Fraser of Kiwi Gardens when the group played at the Art in the Garden event: “Everyone’s minds and bodies were alive with the music floating around them. The music ranged from smooth and sexy, to fast and exciting. Three musicians with a wealth of talent and experience, throwing it all into one exuberant soup of sounds … fantastic!”
