Terminal Bagage Claim

Terminal Baggage Claim performs at 1:30 pm on Sunday October 18, 2015 at St. Ann Catholic Church.

terminalbaggageclaimTerminal Baggage Claim is an electrifying Ottawa based Jazz trio composed of three truly outstanding musicians, and features arrangements that are performed with an intensity that keeps the audience engaged and excited. In 2002, musical partners Bryan Valeriani and Shinya Sato decided that it was time to create a new musical group to showcase their love of Latin jazz. The band that they formed does not fall into the standards category, preferring instead to play dynamic and challenging arrangements that lead the listener on a journey of many musical twists and turns; their music in no way resembles ‘dinner music’. When they began performing extensively throughout the Ottawa area in 2002, they chose the name Terminal Baggage Claim in recognition of jazz pioneer Chick Corea. The band members never fail to take the listener on an exciting musical journey: Shinya Sato’s fluidity and rhythmic agility have helped to establish him as a serious talent both here and in Japan, and Bryan Valeriani is a seasoned drummer with thirty years of performing experience and an intense playing style which highlights incredible technique blended with a string musicality. Bob Martin has toured the Ontario scene, playing the type of music needed for the gig: rock, blues, country, R & B, soul, funk and jazz.

The trio have played at the Andrew Hayden Park Canada Day festivities, as well as performing for several years at the Ottawa Jazz Festival. After a brief hiatus, the band was reformed in 2014. The rejuvenated lineup is currently rehearsing original tunes and anticipates a late 2015 recording release.
