The Massie Johnson Combo is a versatile jazz quintet who released their album, called MJC, in 2011. They’ve played as a quartet for the last eight years throughout the Ottawa area in all sorts of venues, including jazz clubs, restaurants and at corporate as well as private parties. Led by guitarist Gilles Massie from Gatineau and saxophonist Bob Johnson from Ottawa, their unique blend of traditional standards, countered by contemporary jazz-funk compositions, is an ideal setting for their improvisational styles. They have a newly recorded CD entitled En La Subida.
