Chris Maskell Trio

The Chris Maskell Trio performs at 1:00 pm on Saturday October 15, 2016 at St. Ann Catholic Church.

Chris Maskell Promo PhotoMade up of some of Montreal’s best and brightest musicians, the Chris Maskell Trio explores both their own original music and re-imagines choice jazz standards. Functioning as a collective, the band performs compositions by each member of the group, giving a chance for deep self-expression. Invariably, this results in nuanced, creative and exciting music.

Saxophonist Chris Maskell is an emerging artist in both the Montreal and Ottawa jazz scene. He currently attends McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, where he is beginning a Master of Music in Jazz Performance. Maskell has extensive performing experience playing with Seamus Blake, Josh Rager, the TD Jazz Youth Summit, the Yamaha All-Star Band 2012, the Nic Gaumond Octet, the Maskell/Cousineau Quintet, Static Gold, the Capital Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Nepean All-City Jazz Band, the Stevens & Kennedy Band, the Crane Latin Ensemble, and GPM & Prosper. His latest project finds him in a trio setting alongside two frequent collaborators, bassist Levi Dover and drummer Louis-Vincent Hamel.
