Sax Appeal is a unique professional saxophone ensemble that is transforming the musical landscape in Canada with its distinctive sound, look and feel. Comprised of excellent musicians, playing a range of saxophones – soprano, alto, tenor and baritone – it includes some of the best saxophonists in the Ottawa Valley. Active since 2011, a variety of musical styles suitable for any occasion are the hallmarks of Sax Appeal. Equally comfortable playing musical genres ranging from jazz to classical to literally everything in between, the versatility of this saxophone ensemble is unmatched.
Their leader, Jarrod Goldsmith, studied with the late esteemed Professor Gerald Danovitch and played in numerous McGill ensembles. Jarrod continued his studies and music while earning a Masters degree in archaeology. During this time, he joined the University of Alberta’s Jazz Band 1, and also a high-octane Latin band called Orchestra Energia.
Sax Appeal has performed at large public events including the Ottawa Jazz Festival (2013) and since 2012 have played every morning during the launch for the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival.
