Dominique Forest is noticed for the smooth interpretations she brings to jazz’s most memorable songs. Jazz suits Dominique in every way, from her classic profile and easy yet commanding stage presence to her singular interpretive style.
Third time is a charm… Dominique returns to Merrickville’s Jazz Fest. This time, she will share the thoughtful, intimate and provocative compositions of her debut CD, C’est à moi. After two highly successful launch events, at the National Arts Centre – Fourth Stage in Ottawa and to a hometown crowd in Sudbury, Dominique will present the songs of C’est à moi as well as some of the most beloved jazz melodies to MJF festival audiences. Jacques Émond called her “one of the best performers to take the stage”, Ottawa Life Magazine says “It’s that voice!” and Peter Hum notes her singing as full-bodied, bang-on pitch-wise and blessed with all kinds of expressiveness.
Accompanied by Pierre Monfils on guitar, Dominique will perform these beautiful songs for you. Come join Dominique and Pierre at Gad’s Hill Place.
Pierre Monfils’ early love of music developed into a career teaching music and drama in Ontario schools. Now retired from teaching, Pierre devotes most of his free time to his first passion: music and the guitar. Pierre has played at the Ottawa Jazz Festival twice as part of the Dominique Forest ensemble. Among his numerous musical activities, he participates in several dance bands, big bands, small jazz ensembles and various productions of musical comedies such as West Side Story, Crazy For You and Annie. He also plays bass for the folk/bluegrass ensemble East of Gatineau.
