CarlosSantanaInfluenced by Scott Joplin, Ernesto Lecuona, George Gershwin, Claude Bolling, Michel Camilo, Astor Piazzolla, Mario Ruiz Armengol and Chick Corea, the Carlos Alberto Santana Jazz Trio formed in 2013. Incorporating jazz fusion and Latin jazz, the group’s members have a long professional background in music and have played in different festivals around the National Capital Region.

Carlos Alberto Santana is a musician and composer, who emigrated to Canada from Mexico in 1998.  in addition to many live performances he has recorded on different projects with local musicians Mighty Popo and Rimbombante.

Angel Araos is a Chilean-born percussionist whose career has spanned classical, jazz, folk, Brazilian and Cuban music. He has performed widely in Canada and South America with numerous ensembles, winning a Juno award in the world music category as a member of the group Ancient Cultures.

Daniel Chavolla is from Mexico and studied percussion and double bass at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City and composition with Humberto Hernandez Medrano. He has worked as an additional musician on several Mexican orchestras, as well as a bass player with some jazz and popular music groups in Mexico.
