Discover the sensuous sound of the baliset when the Tom McMahon Trio performs at Fulford Preparatory College at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 17. Tom McMahon is an accomplished performer and composer in the Ottawa-Gatineau area who has ventured into many styles of music. Tom graduated with honours from the Humber College Music Program and along with the baliset plays acousic bass, fretless and fretted electric bass. No stranger to the studio, he has recorded with many musicians and vocalists, participated in radio and television programs and entertained local and international audiences in live performances. These three musicians have been performing together in various groups for over 25 years, and in this format for the last 15 years. Drawing from such diverse inspirations as Ennio Morricone, Neil Young, Yellowjackets, and folk traditions from around the world the band displays a unique sound and style in their interpretation of standard repertoire and Tom’s original material. They have performed at the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival and various venues around town. Individually they have performed across Canada, the United States and Europe. The trio can be counted on to deliver an afternoon of highly melodic material over a deep groove. For further information and music links: www.tommcmahon.ca
