Merrickville’s Jazz Fest performance of saxophonist Ralph Hopper’s East Side Jazz Quartet marks the official release of ‘Imaginary Squirrels’, the most recent group of tunes by Ralph Hopper.  A 7 tune CD will be a gift to the first 30 arrivals for the concert which begins at 3pm on October 18 at the Merrickville Legion.

Over the past few years, Ralph has been concentrating more on composing music, and these tunes are some of his most recent.  The styles reflect his own eclectic taste.  While some are mainstream jazz, his writing also ventures into blues, Latin, cool jazz and funk, so this CD offers a wonderfully diverse listening experience.  Some of these tunes have already been getting regular streaming radio airplay.  Satin Under Moonlight was the most requested tune on the Gravity channel on Outboundmusic.com for several months in 2014, with Eight By Eight and Squeaky Beach also in the top 10.  Ralph performs these compositions, along with many jazz standards, with his trio, quartet, and One Man Saxophone Band at various private bookings in the Ottawa area.  He is delighted to perform and officially release these tunes at Merrickville’s Jazz Fest.  Visit his web site  – www.ralphhopper.ca – for more information and details on downloads.
