BAND BIO:

A trio of long-time colleagues and musical collaborators, EAGLES / BOVA / WITTET showcases the compositions of guitarist Wayne Eagles. Given their eclectic but shared stylistic interests, from textural European jazz to funkier roots music, the combo accentuates improvisation with an emphasis on interaction/interplay. Given their extensive industry experience – as musicians, educators, designers, producers, writers, engineers, etc. – community involvement informs their music making. With sustained interest in live performance, EAGLES / BOVA / WITTET plan to record over the next few months; new music anticipated late-2019.

MEMBER BIOS:

Wayne Eagles has been a Guitar Performance Instructor for Carleton University’s Music department since September 1992 and Director of the School’s Fusion Ensemble since 2007, in addition to a new role as Contract Instructor. He manages a busy private teaching schedule, does independent concert promotion, manages the TetraArtist recording label, and is an Endorsing Artist for a several high-profile instrument manufacturers. Wayne’s performance history includes Canadian Jazz and Blues Festivals, University music showcases, television appearances, the industry expo’s NAMM Show, and extensive club work. He has performed/recorded with renowned artists including: Adam Nussbaum, Billy Kilson, Ian Froman, The Platters, Ken Rosser, Funkdawgs, Super Awesome Club, The Bitches Brew Tribute Band. www.wayneeagles.com

Phillip Victor Bova is an Ottawa-based producer/engineer/bassist with over 40 years of experience, having directed critically-acclaimed sessions for artists including; Roddy Ellias, Kevin Breit, Tara Holloway, Alexis MacIsaac, Ian Tamblyn, Sills & Smith, New Swears, William Parker, Jesse Stewart, Hamid Drake, Petr Cancura, and David Wiffen. Awarded Best Music for an Animated Short Film by the 2018 Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival, Phil is devoted to classic analog and tube design alongside the latest digital technologies. He remains a long-time live and session bassist conversant in myriad popular music styles. T. Bruce Wittet is a veteran of the Ottawa recording and performing scene, known for his diverse percussive sensibility. A drumset instructor for Carleton University Music, he is widely respected for his music journalism (Modern DrummerDownbeatMuzik/Drums Etc.). Mentored by iconic drum greats Jim Keltner and Dave Mattacks, Bruce continues his private coaching of aspiring and experienced drummers. His debut recording featured the Brecker Brothers on horns, and his many years as a session musician includes releases by Ian Tamblyn, Peter Brown, Cathy Miller, and Ben Duchesne. A long-time co-director of the Montreal Drum Festival, Bruce was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award c/o Quebec City’s 2017 Drum Fest International Ralph Angelillo. www.tbrucewittet.com
