Pimienta Blanca (“white pepper”) reflects the spicy flavour of the band’s Latin jazz repertoire. Playing together since 2012, the group has been entertaining fans with their spirited mix of Samba Jazz, Bossa Nova, Salsa, Mambo and Son. As well as preforming at venues throughout the Ottawa area, Pimienta Blanca (previously known as Latin Jazz Quartet or LJQ) presented a monthly Latin Jazz Night at Ottawa’s AlphaSoul Care, was house band for the second season of monthly jazz jam sessions at Pressed Café and hosted a jam session at the Brookstreet Hotel. Members of the band were also featured on the album, Shades of Brazil, by LA-based vocalists Emily Florence and Grammy-nominated American jazz legend, Jelsa Palao.
