Marc Decho is known for his strong bass presence in many Latin and mainstream jazz groups. Born in Montreal and completely self-taught, He keeps busy with his solo projects and with larger groups – including the Miguel de Armas Quartet, Eru-Era and Warp’tet, which he led in tributes to Jaco Pastorius and John Coltrane. He has performed throughout Canada, Cuba and France, and with some of Canada’s finest musicians including JUNO award winner and Grammy Nominee, Jane Bunnett, who described him as “one of the best bassists anywhere.”

Cuban-born, Rafael Zaldivar took up percussion and piano at a young age. After studying at the Higher Institute of Arts in Havana, he came to Montreal where he completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in only three years. Since then his career has flourished: this Juno nominee has worked with musicians and international stars such as Herbie Hancock, Barry Harris, Kenny Barron, Greg Osby, Francisco Mela and Nate Smith, and, has participated in many world-renowned jazz festivals.

Cuban-born, Frank Martinez Nodarse studied music – timpani, marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, snare, timbales, congas, batà drums, drums and bongos – at the University of the Arts in Cuba where he obtained a degree in percussion. While studying Frank began his professional career playing with vocalist Frank Delgado and performing shows with the company, Opera de la Calle. Frank toured Cuba and Canada with group and subsequently moved to Ottawa. He now performs and records with a variety of bands in the Ottawa and Montreal areas, teaches drums, timbales, congas and bongos, and is an official representative for Murat Diril Cymbals.
