Our third concert in the festival takes place on Saturday October 17, 2020 at 7:30 PM when we welcome back MJF festival favourites Red Hot Ramble. The Toronto-based group is known for its high-energy performances and excellent musical chops. The Ramble have had an established residency at Toronto’s The Rex Hotel Jazz & Blues Bar for over eight years on the second Sunday of every month for their ‘Second Line Sunday”. And so that’s where they are performing for us tonight! Red Hot Ramble’s concert video lasts an hour and will be available to pass and ticket holders for a 24-hour viewing period once the video premieres at 7:30 PM EDT. So if you’re tuning in from a different time zone or if you can’t make it for the live broadcast, you can catch the show later.
Red Hot Ramble
Roberta Hunt – vocals and piano
Alison Young – saxophones and vocals
Jacek Zorawski – double bass
Jamie Stager – trombone
Glenn Anderson – drums
Red Hot Ramble was formed in 2010 when members Glenn Anderson and Jacek Zorawski decided to form a band that not only featured the traditional jazz of New Orleans, but delved into the many other forms of music that evolved out of the Crescent City including blues, Latin, funk, street music and Second Lines!! When singer/pianist Roberta Hunt became available, they joined forces with Roberta and then up-and-coming (now Juno nominated) saxophonist Alison Young and trombonist Jamie Stager to form the core band of Red Hot Ramble. The ‘Ramble’ has been performing now for over 10 years in festivals, events and clubs throughout Southern Ontario and they have just released their third CD entitled, ‘Today’s Gonna Be a Good Day!” Their motto is “From Dr. Jazz to Dr. John!” and everything in between.
