What is Jazz In Merrickville?
A FREE afternoon of music celebrating Merrickville’s Jazz Fest (MJF). Although MJF officially ceased operations after the virtual festival in 2020, we are delighted to have this opportunity to show our appreciation for MJF’s many supporters during 10 exciting years of presenting great jazz concerts in Merrickville.
When and where does it take place?
Sunday, September 4, 2022, from Noon to 4:00 PM. Four groups will perform at 12:00 PM, 1:05 PM, 2:10 PM and 3:15 PM on the Lions Club Bandstand in Blockhouse Park, Merrickville. Please see the map below. There will be breaks lasting approximately 15 minutes between sets as the bands set up for their shows.
Is there parking available?
Yes, there are plenty of free parking spots, some right next to the park as well as all around the Village.
Is there seating available?
A few picnic benches are available in the park but we encourage you to bring your own lawn chair.
Will there be food and beverages available in the park?
No, but you are invited to support our local restaurants, pubs and coffee shops or bring your own food and drink for a picnic.
Are washrooms available in the park?
Yes, washrooms are available at “The Depot” operated by the Friends of the Rideau on-site in the park and at the Lockmaster’s House (next lock down). There are also washrooms located at other facilities around the Village if you purchase food or beverages.
What happens if it’s raining?
Like most outdoor festivals, the event will take place rain or shine; please bring raincoats and umbrellas in case of lightly rainy weather. If a major storm is forecast that morning, such as a threatening electrical or thunder storm, the event would not proceed. If the decision is made to cancel the event, an announcement would be posted on the website as well as on the MJF Facebook page and Twitter.
